Can you believe it’s 2026? Time moves in such a curious way—passing quickly, yet carrying moments that feel both near and far all at once. This year marks seven years since Madison left our earthly lives. While time continues forward, her memory, spirit, and impact remain ever-present and deeply felt.

As we enter our second year as The Madison J. Smallwood Foundation (Be Kind Like Madison), we are filled with gratitude. Thanks to your incredible generosity during the 12 Days of Madison, we raised over $3,000. This remarkable support will allow us to award one or more scholarships to the Monroe High School graduating Class of 2026.

The Madison J. Smallwood Scholarship is open to any 2026 senior planning to continue their education at a college, university, or trade school. Madison loved school, and this scholarship is one meaningful way we continue to honor her passion for learning and her legacy of kindness. The first-place scholarship award will be $2,025. Scholarship details and eligibility can be found on our Scholarships page. Applications are due February 28, 2026.

We are also excited to welcome Bella Dixon as our newest board member, serving as Director of Communications. Bella will be stepping into this role with great care and enthusiasm. To know Bella is to love her—and Madison loved her deeply as well. Madison and Bella were friends from an early age, sharing countless laughs, sleepovers, and memories. Bella was one of Madison’s “no matter what” friends—steadfast, loyal, and unwavering.
